About Michael Kappler

Michael Kappler is the creator of The Adventures of Abby the Tabby, a children’s picture-book series set on a warm and welcoming farm where friendship, curiosity, and kindness guide each adventure.

The character of Abby was inspired by Michael’s own cat, Abby—a playful and curious companion who enjoys “helping” with household tasks and often finds herself at the center of small everyday adventures.

The idea for the series took shape with the birth of Michael’s grandson, Cullen. Inspired by becoming a grandfather, Michael decided it was finally time to write the children’s book he had long imagined. What began as a story for his grandson soon grew into a full picture-book series following Abby, a curious gray tabby kitten who explores the farm and meets new friends while discovering the importance of kindness, curiosity, and friendship.

Designed for children ages 1 to 8, The Adventures of Abby the Tabby is ideal for family reading time, classrooms, and library story hours.

Michael Kappler lives in North Carolina with his spouse and cats Abby and Lily, who continue to inspire new stories and adventures.
